Phone Project - Local congregations are raising $9,000 to provide cell phones to people seeking addiction treatment. After each treatment, another month of service is added to the phone contract. This encourages the patients to attend their appointments as well as provides a method for them to contact their providers.

 

Medical Transport System - ICOH is working with Española's RTD bus system to alter routes to increase transport to medical centers.

 

Tiny Libraries Project - McCurdy ministries has requested 30 tiny libraries for placement in the Española area. Two have been delivered! To learn more, to volunter, or to donate books to McCurdy ministries, click here.

 

LEER Program Reading Buddies - LEER (Literacy En Española Region), a Children's Literacy Program for the Española Valley, aims to improve children's reading proficiency through access to books with vetted and trained caring adults as Reading Buddies who read one-on-one with elementary students. The program will begin with Camp Stars summer camp in 2025 and launch into the elementary schools in the fall of 2025. The Coalition provided financial aid to the Española Pathways Shelter to help it restore its program for overnight stays. This effort raised $10,000  from participating congregations during Fall 2024 so that the Shelter could purchase:  

    $5,000 for new linens, pillows, and blankets for 30 bunks with extras for replacement, etc. 

    $5,000 to sustain shower and laundry programs for a year
